The  event will benefit Hurricane Sandy relief efforts. Tickets for the event will be auctioned off on Ticketmaster, beginning Dec. 14th at 10 a.m. EST. Starting bids are set at $100. "This time last year we were about to play MSG for the first time and that opened so many doors," Ingrosso told The Huffington Post. "When we grew up, house music from NYC was king. We had to do it. And, to be honest, playing to 3,000 people in black tie and dressed up will be an amazing extra to this tour."

Deadmau5 Transformed London Into an Epic Music Light Show

Deadmau5 have smashed it once again to produce an ‘out of this world’ light and music spectacular.

The pair promised to take fans to a whole new level to celebrate the launch of the new Nokia Lumia handsets- and they didn’t disappoint.

The entire London square was on Wednesday night plunged into darkness as Deadmau5 produced an epic audio-visual extravaganza with technical wizardry.

Thousands flocked to the capital to be a part of the must-see event of the year. ‘This is Lumia’ was nothing short of ground-breaking, blowing last year’s music experience out of the water.

Every inch of the Flat Iron Square, from the windows and bins, came alive in a stunning set of bright lights, pulsing to the backbeat of Deadmau5. As the music started, the advanced technology played like a musical instrument, transforming the street into a kaleidoscope of colours whilst the superstar DJ performed on top of a roof in his trademark costume mouse head.

@nokia_uk tweeted: “Amazing gig. Amazing light show! Time for us to go and celebrate with @deadmau5 #switch”

Meanwhile, @deadmau5 said: “Playing Millbank Tower was an incredible experience, so it’s great to be back in London to team up with Nokia again. The new show was a totally different concept from last year, but equally inspiring and technically challenging.”

Conor Pierce, VP for Nokia said: “We see the Lumia 920 as one of the most exciting phones we have launched at Nokia, it includes some truly ground-breaking innovations: Wireless charging, a screen that automatically adjusts its colour and brightness, depending on sunlight, a touchscreen that even works when you're wearing gloves and best of all it's a beautiful device; like the 'This is Lumia' event the 920 looks just awesome.”prlog

deadmau5 Album Review >album title goes here<

Joel Zimmerman, aka deadmau5: The producer never lets grammar get in the way of  rants, let alone the naming of his albums. The mau5 has been highly vocal on the transition of dance music since Rolling Stone tagged 2012 the year of the “Dance Dance Revolution” on its February cover. Alongside months of self-promotion leading up to the release of >album title goes here<, the crux of his argument is as follows: The craft of being a DJ is in producing your own tunes and not just spinning another’s music; live EDM has become more about the visuals than the skill of producing live; and music is best when produced in a well-equipped studio and not the back of a touring bus.

For lack of a better name, let’s dub these rules the “deadmau5 doctrine.” >album title goes here< fits nicely within this doctrine, and with the assistance of big-name collaborators, it also extends the reach of his signature progressive house. Most significantly, the album showcases a shift toward the high-minded, super-precise production vibe of minimal techno and Euro-touring house producers.

Although less bombastic than previous deadmau5 standouts like “Ghosts ‘n’ Stuff” or “Raise Your Weapon”, the mid-section of >album title goes here< still has the potential to draw police officers to your doorstep, depending on the decibel level and kindness of your neighbors. “Take Care of The Proper Paperwork” is seven minutes of depraved tech-house, with beats ripped from a dank German nightclub of 1994 and given a quick electro makeover by the mau5. In comparison, “October” is angelic, focusing on an uplifting vibe that could fit seamlessly on an upcoming episode of Armin Van Buuren’s A State of Trace.

Although he’s against producing his tracks live, it is easy to imagine the walking bassline and jazz-influenced drums of “Sleepless” with an actual backing band. The shortest track on the release at 4:12, “Sleepless” (which is a dramatic edit of 2010′s “Sleeping Beauty Pills”) includes the most powerful message: “In the end we are nowhere/ sleepless and still and tight…the only thing I want is the last thing I need/ Awake and sleepless as stars shine.” The celestial undertones are amplified by “Closer”, which utilizes the alien communication notes of Close Encounters of the Third Kind to put listeners in touch with other sentient beings.

Zimmerman hasn’t totally abandoned the raver of yesteryear, launching the album with his signature electro-whips on “Subliminal” and Wimbledon-worthy synth volleys of “Channel 42″. Akin to 4×4=12′s “Animal Rights”, Wolfgang Gartner serves as studio partner for “Channel 42″ and proves himself a sterling selection to help deadmau5 to construct a towering collage of EDM chord structures; think the Burj Khalifa of dance music, a structure that dominates the landscape with both breathtaking dimensions and precision. deadmau5 follows the track with another personnel reboot from 4×4=12, teaming with producer/vocalist Chris James for an eight-minute vocally driven edit of “The Veldt”.

Like “October”, the track is centered around an uplifting trance aesthetic that has been much better received in European discotheques than among the deadmau5-tee sporting youth of the U.S. “Fn Pig” unites the two poles of this mix while epitomizing what can be done with a room dedicated to professional synthesizers. The track refuses to recycle old beats or plug-ins, gradually building from a twilight oceanic hum into a wave of electro-aggression and breakbeat vocal loops. Surely, whenever deadmau5 is set to bring this album on the road, “Fn Pig” and the album’s vocal edit of “Professional Griefers” will play behind a blistering visual rollercoaster that tosses the crowd from visceral joy to saw-jaw mayhem.

Additional guests Cypress Hill and Imogean Heap take the man in the mau5head to more uncharted territory. Cypress Hill’s drug-heavy lyrics on “Failbait” are nearly as lackluster as their album with Rusko, but deadmau5 does show a new side of his production here with choppy hip hop beats. The BPMs slow even further on “Telemiscommunications”, which features the quirky, lovestruck vocals of Imogean Heap.

>album title goes here< may show a mature, artistically evolved deadmau5, but it’ll still sell out auditoriums. The mau5 continues to augment his multi-sensory set to entertain audiences worldwide, be that with “Subliminal”, “Channel 42″, and “Failbait” in North America, or with the album’s more emotive tracks when he tours internationally. Now eyeing commercial success, deadmau5 is making a powerful statement that he is capable of more than entertaining hormone-fueled twenty-somethings. He can take genre-defining characteristics of house and techno and make them relevant to a group of consumers that is totally ignorant of their roots.by derek staples

Swedish House Mafia Promise 'Some Of The Best Shows On Last Tour

The appropriately named "One Last Tour" has been teased on the band's website for a week, with pins dropped across the world asking fans to "connect the dots" to figure out where the trek would take them. A week after the three-dot logo representing the tour began appearing all around the globe — with 20,000 sightings on everything from planes to digital projections on landmarks — the Dancing Astronaut EDM blog was the first to put the clues together and figure out the locations of 10 of the dates before the full slate was revealed on Monday (September 24).

"There's gonna be a lot of presents, we're going to try and say hello and goodbye to some people that we never met and some that we have met," Axwell told MTV News at the iHeartRadio Music Festival over the weekend. "We're going to try and touch as many as we can." In fact, they're playing three shows in Sweden, the country that gave them their name.
"We've never done Sweden and we got an opportunity ... we were waiting for the right moment," explained Angello. "This is it."
The trio's most extensive tour will kick off in Dubai on November 16 and will include their first-ever gigs in India, Russia and South Africa. It will hit North American shores in February, including back-to-back dates at Madison Square Garden and the new Barclays Center in New York. All tickets for the shows will go on sale on Friday.
Axwell said he's looking forward to the vibe on the crowd, because he predicted it would be an emotional experience. "We actually have done one show since we announced that we are finalizing ... and that was insanely intense and emotional. We know we're going to have some of the best shows of our lives."
Until Now, will be released on October 22 in two formats, a 10-track version and a deluxe edition with an additional 12 songs. The album is the official soundtrack to their One Last Tour and it will feature a collection of the original tracks, remixes, exclusive collaborations, club favorites and solo productions.
Among the notable tracks are the recently released single, "Don't You Worry Child," featuring Swedish singer John Martin and the previously unreleased Coldplay vs. Swedish House Mafia version of "Every Teardrop Is a Waterfall."
The album also has the popular club tracks "Calling," "In My Mind," Angello and Third Party's "Lights" and the trio's exclusive remix of Usher's "Euphoria."by gil kaufman

Sol Republic displayed the new deadmau5 Tracks HD headphones.
Kevin Lee, Sol Republic CEO, said: “We didn’t want to make yet another artist headphone for namesake. However, some music artists are truly creative beyond music and have an interesting artistic view. Joel Zimmerman is one of them. What he created in the end with Joshua Davis is very cool interpretation of the world of Deadmau5, part controlled part not, which in itself says something.

Deadmau5 Taking A Break For A While?

progressive house producer Deadmau5has been keeping busy this summer -- whether it be blasting Madonna and Playboy model Tricia Evans or performing around the world -- and now he's planning to take a little break.
"I'm going to unplug for a wee bit," he wrote on his Tumblr, before adding that no upcoming shows will get canceled and that he'll still write and release music.
"I got a lot of work to do on some stuff," he wrote. "So, best I just chill the f--k out a bit and just get it done, and get it done RIGHT, until I'm 100% satisfied with it. Then our regularily scheduled program shall continue. But yeah, I'm basicly [sic] pretty miserable right now and need to pull the f--k back and figure out whatever the f--k it is I do."
Deadmau5 -- a prolific Twitter user with over 1.3 million followers -- has commented previously about his battles with "severe depression and anxiety", though whether this break is connected with that is unclear.
"Taking a long time off after my birthday to hopefully get it sorted out before I say or do anything more stupid than I already have," he wrote on Facebook earlier this year. (The transcription via Spinner, since the Facebook post has been removed.)

Skrillex: The $15 Million Dollar DJ

Over the last year Skrillex has performed in front of at least 250,000 people, playing his own tunes in over 150 live shows across 19 countries—a formula that means millions for him and for his DJ peers who follow a similar schedule.
Rock and pop stars are hurting: Music sales are down, album creation is time-intensive, and elaborate live setups generally result in just one-third of gross ticket sales for the artist while also crimping the number of performances in any given year. DJs don’t need to create their own music—their art is curation and mixing. While Skrillex and his peers have gained popularity by producing their own music, they generally release it free, rendering piracy, the bane of traditional artists, irrelevant.
Instead, they make their money from the road, and because even the best DJs travel light—often toting nothing more than a thumb drive—they take home the bulk of their gross pay, sometimes more than $100,000 for a few hours’ work, repeated nightly if they choose. It’s a volume business and a big one: The ten top-earning DJs pulled in a combined $125 million last year.
“This is the hottest segment of the music industry right now,” says Jonathan Shecter, who books DJs for Wynn Resorts in Las Vegas. “It’s so hot because it’s so cost-effective.”

Tiësto The Evolution Of The Electronic Music Business

Holland’s Tijs Michiel Verwest is a man of firsts. Better known as Tiësto, the 43-year-old DJ was the first to play the Olympics, performing in Athens in 2004; seven years later he filled a 26,000-seat arena in California, the biggest crowd for a solo electronic act in U.S. history.he’s the first to top FORBES’ inaugural ranking of the world’s highest-paid DJs.

Tiësto pulled in an estimated $22 million over the past 12 months, playing more than 100 shows—a big raise from his beginnings, when he charged $50 a night. “Whenever I made money I invested in myself… I bought whatever I needed to make my career better,” he says. “I never really spent money on other stuff, like buying expensive cars.”
Now he’s reaping what he sowed.

Tiësto is one of many being rapidly expanding subculture that’s turning the ears of rainbow bracelet-donning teenagers and deep-pocketed Wall Street types alike. Once isolated and splintered, electronic dance music (EDM) has exploded in an age of social media, cheap music technology and mega-festivals, lining the pockets of performers and promoters alike. The ten artists on FORBES DJ list pulled in a combined $125 million over a year-long period.
“They are… the stars of today and it is going to continue that way,” says Shelly Finkel, a music industry veteran, whose 1973 Summer Jam At Watkins Glen was the largest music festival ever. Back then headliners included The Grateful Dead and The Allman Brothers.

Rather than traditional rock bands, the names highest on festival bills are more likely to be DJs whose appearance fees are easily in the hundreds of thousands of dollars. Organizers at this year’s Las Vegas Electric Daisy Carnival spent well over $20 million on production and talent, says promoter Pasquale Rotella, the festival’s creator. According to organizers, this year’s sold-out event attracted 320,000 attendees over three days, most of whom paid $215 for a pass.

“This is the biggest I’ve ever seen [dance music] and I’ve been in it since the beginning,” says Rotella, who first started producing dance shows out of Los Angeles warehouses in the early 90s. Rotella remains coy on how much his production company, Insomniac Events, is making, but notes that they are “steadily growing.”

While those who have been in the dance music scene for decades scoff at the generic, all-encompassing label of EDM, few can deny its rapid progression into the mainstream. Danny Whittle, brand director for one of the world’s biggest dance clubs, Pacha, places EDM’s rise on the genre’s coexistence with the Web. DJs were some of the first to truly give their music for free and adopt social media, making money off of gigs and appearances rather than album sales.by ryan mac

Tiësto Next DJ to Headline at Staples Center

If you think about it, Tiësto really got there first: His set at Home Depot Center last October was the biggest single DJ event the West Coast has ever seen.
That said, when it comes to headlining Staples Center, he’s a step behind Kaskade, who just broke that barrier last weekend with a sold-out show at the L.A. arena.
The Dutch superstar, however, will surely pack the place as well when he arrives Oct. 20 at Staples. Tickets, $29.50-$89.50, go on sale Friday, Aug. 3, at 10 a.m.by ben wener

Deadmau5 Latest Artist To Start Fashion Line

Created in partnership with Neff Headwear, the line launched yesterday (July 25), according to Billboard
The colorful line will be dubbed the Neffmau5 collection and contains co-branded T-shirts, hats and hoodies. The new signature line is the first installment of a two-year collaboration between mau5 and Neff.

"I love the street and snowboard scene," Deadmau5 revealed in a release. "The people involved are the people I see at my shows, so it made sense to hook up with a cool company like Neff to work on a collaboration. Plus it was easy to put ears on the Neff face for an instantly legit logo, right?"

Founder and CEO of Neff Headwear, Shaun Neff, is just as stoked as Deadmau5 about the collab, saying, “We think Neffmau5 perfectly expressed the combined energy of our two brands and we hope a new army of new consumers will agree."

Deadmau5 joins a lengthy list of artists who have their own clothing lines, including Black Eyed Peas’ will.i.am, Gwen Stefani, Pharell, Jay-Z and Jessica Simpson. Also Tiesto just signed a deal with Guess Recently

The Neffmau5 collection is fresh in stores and will be available at a variety of retail and online outlets.mtv news

Deadmau5 Slams Playboy Model Tricia Evans for Colorado Shooting

Electronic dance music Deadmau5 was not amused when Playboy model Tricia Evans attempted  inarguably unamusing, deeply crass joke on Twitter related to Friday's massacre in Colorado.

"I heard the new Batman movie is really 'to die for'!" she wrote after news broke of the shootings at a Dark Knight Rises screening that claimed 12 lives and left dozens wounded. Added Evans: "Too soon?"
Deadmau5's response: "good to know @HollywoodTricia i seriously had no idea how big of a shit you are. unfollowed."

The musician's tweet appears to have been deleted from his Twitter page, but has been screengrabbed via the Huffpo. On Friday, Deadmau5 also wrote: "my thoughts and prayers to the victims and their families in Colorado during this most troublesome time. :\ such senselessness."

Meanwhile, Evans -- facing a barrage of outraged tweets from critics -- has been on the defense, writing: "Most of the people I've heard from r walking, talking bags of shit & deadmau5 is the moral police. LOL."

Deadmau is no stranger to a social-media feud. Earlier this year, the EDM leader took on a much bigger fish when he scolded Madonna for what he perceived as her casual use of a slang term for the drug ecstasy from the stage at the Ultra Music Festival.
Back in March, the pop queen took the stage stage to introduce Swedish DJ Avicii, yelling to the crowd, "How many people in this crowd have seen Molly?"
Riled up, Zimmerman blasted Madonna in an 800-word rant posted to his Tumblr page and on Facebook, where he called the 53-year-old a "f----ing IDIOT" and questioned, "That's your big message to ultra attendies? hipsterspeak for looking for drugs? F--- off."by erin carlson

Whether it be the 250,000 revelers coming together at Ipanema Beach in Rio De Janeiro, the adoring clubbers who descend upon Privilege in Ibiza on a Monday night every summer, or the 25,000 fans en masse at Victoria Park in London, all are in attendance for the same reason: they have come to see Tiësto, the world’s biggest DJ/Producer!

Tiësto, a.k.a. Tijs Verwest, is a performer who has transcended musical genres to create a global ‘Tiësto’ brand. His achievements include a Grammy nomination, numerous MTV awards, performing at the opening ceremony of the 2004 Athens Olympic Games, and even a wax statue at Madame Tussauds. With over 7 million followers on Facebook and over 130 million hits on YouTube, Tiësto has truly become a universal phenomenon.

Recently voted ‘The Greatest DJ Of All Time’ in a Mixmag poll, Tiësto has worked with artists as diverse as Nelly Furtado, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Goldfrapp, Jónsi from Sigur Rós, Diplo, and Busta Ryhmes. When he is not collaborating with some of the world’s most respected artists he is jet setting his way around the globe playing sold out shows to his adoring fans. His recently completed Kaleidoscope World Tour spanned more than 15 months and 175 dates across 6 continents playing to over 1,000,000 people. The hugely successful tour was recognized as such when Tiësto was nominated for two 2010 Billboard Touring Awards and listed in Billboard’s Top 25 biggest grossing touring acts of 2010.

Tiësto invested heavily in the visual aspect of his DJ sets including a mesmerizing exhibition of lasers, light shows and massive LED screens. “Throughout 2010 I concentrated all my energy on the Kaleidoscope World Tour. Along with the music, I created some of the best production to date, and it really felt like something special.”

Never one to rest on his laurels, Tiësto is more enthusiastic than ever for the new and improved 2011 live experience. The 2011 ‘Club life tour’ and ‘Tiesto Live In Concert’ shows in Vegas will continue to evolve and expand what a live DJ show can be. “For me the possibilities are limitless and I have once again been working with a really talented team on state of the art production elements. I am really pleased with the results and I can’t wait for the fans to experience these incredible new shows!”

The staying power of electronic dance music

Las Vegas nightlife world felt a major happening in our city toward programming electronic dance music and focusing on major headlining DJs in our venues. Any operator with their finger on the pulse saw this approaching, but I’m not sure even we knew how large of a draw this would become and the international attention Las Vegas would earn as “the new Ibiza.”
Major media outlets have started to catch on to what we’re building in our community, and one question always comes up, from the New York Times to Rolling Stone: Is this a fad, or does electronic dance music have staying power?

this is something that has crossed all of our minds at one point or another. It’s no secret that we’ve gone all in with this music, from recruiting top talent to developing marketing campaigns to branding the city the EDM Capital of the World. I have been a fan of dance music for as long as I’ve worked in nightlife, and I can recall a few times where the energy would start to buzz around the genre and we’d think it was about to break through, but nothing can compare to where we are today and what is brewing in the U.S.

Not long ago, DJs took a back seat but today they take center stage in every way possible, from Diplo talking you through his tour on a Blackberry campaign to Avicii spinning in a Budweiser commercial during the Super Bowl. Tiesto gave the first-ever live streaming concert on Twitter at XS this year, and Deadmau5 posed for the debut EDM cover of Rolling Stone this month.

This past year, the Wynn nightlife teams including XS, Tryst, Encore Beach Club and Surrender partnered to develop a roster of 36 resident DJs who were exclusive to the property and aligned with our vision. Our goal was to continue our reputation as the leading nightclubs in the world while now being known as the ultimate destination for dance music fans. Our already successful venues have seen an increase in revenue, and acts like Deadmau5 and Tiesto have set record-breaking attendance numbers.

I am confident that this music will remain a popular force in Las Vegas and especially nightclubs because we offer DJs something not many other cities can: a revolving door of new eyes and ears each night. As a destination, we provide an opportunity to introduce their music to the curious and unfamiliar at the same time that their devoted followings fill up venues. It’s a truly great partnership.
If you’re looking for more or wanting an introduction to the scene, I encourage you to check out the XS podcast to see if the music speaks to you. Then join us for a night at XS or Tryst. We have dates with Avicii, Morgan Page, Steve Aoki, Dada Life, Porter Robinson, Manufactured Superstars, Knife Party and many more in July alone.by jesse waits

Electronic Dance Music Really Could Be the New Rock?

Anyone who follows pop music knows, those two years have seen Skrillex, Deadmau5, and peers like Avicii, Swedish House Mafia, and more rise to celebrity status on a tidal wave of brutally physical, subtlety-free dance music that's come to be called EDM (electronic dance music) by the press and fans alike. The industrial incessantly pounding sounds of EDM have also been popularized on Top 40 radio by superstar producers like David Guetta, RedOne, Dr. Luke, and Calvin Harris, but the music's real home, according to its youthful fanbase, is in warehouse raves, DJ sets at not-particularly-upscale clubs, and increasingly at live festivals, where both attendance and excitement has been upending the previous two decades' conventional wisdom about the preference of American youth for rock, hip-hop, or country.

EDM could be thumbnailed as being to hip-hop what rock was to jazz: not a total overthrow, but a paring down of ideas that had been present from the beginning.
Like anything new or perceived to be new in popular music, the rhetoric around EDM has quickly gotten overheated. The New York Times recently quoted a concert promoter as saying, "If you're 15 to 25 years old now, this is your rock 'n' roll," and breathless profiles in even the nostalgia-peddling Rolling Stone have encouraged that identification. Meanwhile, the chorus of voices declaring that EDM is the worst musical movement in history, the ultimate proof of the decadent know-nothingness of American youth, and the end of culture itself, has only grown—especially online. A lot of that, of course, is the usual grumbling of 30-and-older-somethings that music has changed since they were 15 to 25. But even better-informed arguments that it's all been done before, and that the new crop of EDM superstars don't measure up to the past glories of electronic rave, sound familiar. The cultural arguments over the meaning of EDM, in fact, mirror those of previous generations in pop music, from jazz to rock and roll to hip-hopsuggesting that perhaps we really have entered a new era.

Music journalists are only now beginning to understand  how EDM seemingly sneaked up on them unawares. The narrative of new music has so often been one of building from a despised underground after years of struggle, rip-off, and hustle to mass popularity. But EDM came in by no back door but right through the front gate, with Lady Gaga's "Just Dance" in late 2008. The sound didn't take long to spread: the takeover was complete by the time Ke$ha's unutterably dumb and technologically astute "TiK ToK" began 2010 at the top of the charts. Gaga and Ke$ha, of course, are pop stars, and "TiK ToK" was co-written with Max Martin, who engineered Britney Spears's career 15 years ago: It applies the sound structural principles of popcraft to the aggressive forward momentum of EDM, and features a pure-pop bridge where Skrillex fans might expect a drop. But only year later, Britney's "Hold It Against Me" (also with Martin and Dr. Luke) had a gloriously scuzzy drop in place of a bridge, and ever since, the "dubstep bridge" has become practically synonymous with pop radio; if "TiK ToK" was written today, it would almost certainly have one.by jonathan bogart
